The freshman from Bozeman, Mont., earned medalist honors twice in a seven-day span, shooting a 1-under-par 143 at a tournament hosted by Green River, then shooting an 8-under 134 at a tournament last weekend at Liberty Lake and MeadowWood golf courses. “Ross has come a long long way since he set foot on campus in the fall,” NIC coach Russell Grove said. “He came in with not much tournament experience and honestly his first couple qualifying rounds were tough to watch. Not only has his swing improved but his attitude, mental game, and course management are all so much better. Ross has a lot of physical talent and ability and with his work ethic he’s one that is really easy to teach and show how you have to play the game. Each and every time he tees it up I feel he’s getting better. I can’t wait until he breaks out and shoots in the low 60s which will be soon.”
