John W. Trople, 84

John W. Trople passed away Dec. 13, 2016, with his wife and his family at his side. He had been hospitalized at Sacred Heart Medical Center since Nov. 3, 2016, after suffering a stroke while living at Rose Point Assisted Living. John was born on Feb. 27, 1932; the youngest of six children to Albert and Muril Trople of Wasta, S.D.

He served in the Navy; retiring from the Navy in 1978 after 23 years of service to his country. John had many careers over the years; selling insurance, real estate, fireman and finally as owner of Idaho Fire Extinguisher Company. He was a hard worker, who liked talking to everyone he met.

He always had a story or a joke to share. When asked how he was doing; one of his favorite sayings was “Never felt better or had less,” and he was one to share advice in “never take a wooden nickel” or “keep your powder dry.” He would go out of his way to help someone in need. He loved animals; many a time, strays became part of the family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Esther; his daughter, Shawn Trople Lusarreta of Spokane; granddaughter Caitlin (Aaron) Guehrn; grandson Justin Lusarreta of Spokane; sister Pat Gillen; sister-in-law Doris Trople; and many nieces and nephews around the country.

A memorial service for John will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Bell Tower Funeral Home, 3398 E. Jenalan Ave., Post Falls, Idaho.
