NURSE: Here's to you, Lisa
How wonderful to read that Lisa Rubinsky received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses! (“A Heart for Others,” The Press, March 15.) I am excited for her and not the least bit surprised that she has been recognized for her loving, uplifting care, enthusiasm and great good humor. My husband and I are among those whose days were brightened by Lisa at the Blue Plate Cafe — always a pleasure! We cheered her on as she worked her way through school and achieved her goal of nursing at Kootenai Health. We’ve missed her at Blue Plate but keep up with her through her mom, Andy, who always shows those family traits of caring and good cheer. To my extreme delight Lisa came to visit me, to cheer me and check my progress while I was a patient at KH after knee replacement surgery last year. This was even more special as it was her day off!
This wonderful, talented young woman is a terrific example of what all of us should strive to accomplish — to care, to share, to support and bring joy to those who are in our care, whether to serve a meal or to help us heal.
We are very proud of her! Congratulations, Lisa!
