DISDAIN: The people's enemy

| March 22, 2017 1:00 AM

Responding to a few letters that have appeared lately. Disdain is running high, sadly, without giving the newly elected and struggling representatives a reasonable amount of time to fulfill the promises and reverse the spiral we were in.

Reversing the ACA or Obamacare is a monumental task and won’t be accomplished without revisions and concessions. It was years in the making and THOUSANDS of pages long. It was rammed through without ANY knowledge of what it contained. We’re seeing the repercussions of that each year, 2017 being the worst I’ve heard.

Many people were not happy with the re-election of President Obama, but there were no riots, no screaming and no destruction of cities and businesses. Instead we saw the advocates of the Tea Party peacefully gather by the thousands, waving our American flag, respectfully, not stomping on it or burning it. They also left their gathering places cleaner than when they arrived.

Disrespectful name calling serves only to elicit disdain from both sides of the issue. It’s blog talk and shows no thought to honest opinion or fact. Keep it in the blogs.

Also in that vein, going after and criticizing any church or religion is another affront. Why is it illegal to include the Muslim faith in those nasty tirades, but not Catholicism or Christianity? There again, those who put their name to these attacks earn disgust and disdain from thinking people.

Choose your words carefully and forget the vitriol.
