PRESS: Unfair to GOP

| March 15, 2017 1:00 AM

I would like to address the letter from Nedda and Kerry Field on March 9. My husband and myself so totally agree with you. The Coeur d’Alene Press seems to be very biased in their reporting of Republicans in general and especially President Trump. This was bad enough during the campaigning, but seems worse since the election. Every day we read an AP story whose reporters find ways to spin their stories to undermine the Republican Party and our president. Before the election, they pandered to Hillary Clinton, Obama and the Democrats and published all sorts of negative stories about the Republicans. We have not seen one single story in this paper for months, if ever, that had anything positive to say about the Republican Party.

This bias was blatantly apparent, when on Wednesday, March 8 The Press felt it necessary to fact check the letter written by Christine Allen. Christine accused Obama of being disrespectful (by the way we also agree with you, Christine). The Coeur d’Alene Press could not have anyone talking that way about their “wonderful” president, so they went at great length to make excuses for Obama’s actions with an editor’s footnote. Obama was disrespectful to the American people many times in his eight years. How many times did we see pictures of him with his feet up on the resolute desk in the Oval Office? That desk is not a foot stool and did not belong to him, it belongs to us, we the people of the United States of America and it is a priceless artifact. How many of us would go to someone’s home and put our feet up on their furniture with such blatant disregard?

So Mr. Editor or whoever is now fact checking the people’s opinions for this paper, let’s see you find an excuse for Obama for that one. Also we think the use of editor’s footnotes and fact checking of your reader’s letters is disrespectful on your part. We too think it may be time to cancel our subscription.
