PROM: Oh, what a night

| March 8, 2017 12:00 AM

My son, a 17-year-old (with Autism) was asked to accompany a classmate (with Down syndrome) to Specialized Needs Recreations’ Annual Prom, held at Real Life Ministries in Post Falls. His dad and I attended the event with our son, and all we can say is WOW! We were so incredibly impressed with the entire event!

The massive amount of volunteers (including my husband Jay who helped with the clean-up afterward), the donations of food and people serving it, the elegant/beautiful decorations, the support/encouragement/enthusiasm of the employees/volunteers/the community, the attendance of our Sheriff Ben Wolfinger (in a tuxedo no less) cheering/clapping as they entered the event, the music, the photography, etc. Thank you so much to RLM, SNR (Angie Goucher and other staff), and all of the people who made this event happen. Thank you to Touchdown Tuxedo for the generous donation of the tuxedo and Sports Clips in Hayden Lake for the donated hair styling. With my son, clad in a beautiful tuxedo for the first time in his life and the Escalade Limo we arrived/left in, this will no doubt be a night he will never forget!
