Chiefs select Fafrak, Kral

in annual CHL Import Draft

The Spokane Chiefs selected 1999-born players Milos Fafrak and Filip Kral in Wednesday’s 2017 CHL Import Draft.

After passes, Fafrak and Kral were the 15th and 59th players taken respectively.

Fafrak, a 17-year old forward from Martin, Slovakia, stands 6-foot-3 and is 176 pounds. Last season, he scored 11 goals and 28 assists for 39 points in 44 games with the Slovak U18 team playing in the Slovakian U20 Extraliga last seaosn. He added two goals and two assists in five games at the 2017 IIHF U18 World Championship.

Kral, 17, is a 6-foot, 170 pound defenseman from Brno, Czech Republic. He played in 13 games with the HC Komenta Brno in the Czech U20 league last season, scoring four goals and six assists before moving up to the Kometa Brno men’s team in the professional Czech Extraliga and picking up two assists in 23 games.

Karnowski added to Hornets

Summer League roster

SPOKANE — Former Gonzaga standout Przemek Karnowski was added to the Charlotte Hornets’ summer league roster, the team announced.

Charlotte announced the team’s 15-man roster for the Orlando Pro Summer League, which begins on Saturday. Hornets assistant coach Stephen Silas will serve as head coach of the team.

Teams will play five games over the six-day event, with a championshp day being played on the final day of the league. NBA TV will televise all games, including all five games on the Charlotte schedule.

Karnowski was named All-West Coast Conference first team and first team Academic All-Conference with a 3.43 GPA.
