THURSDAY

Northern Lakes 19-15

St. Maries 4-4

ST. MARIES — Jack McDonald went 4 for 5 with two RBIs and three runs scored in the first game for Northern Lakes (17-6, 13-11 class A North Idaho League), and Max Baker went 2 for 4 with five RBIs and three runs.

Colton Aragon drove in five runs in the second game for Northern Lakes.

On Wednesday, Sandpoint led Northern Lakes 8-2 after 2 1/2 innings when a thunderstorm hit and the game was rained out. It will be resumed next Thursday at Sandpoint, prior to the teams’ regularly scheduled game.

LATE TUESDAY

Lewis-Clark 8-10

Prairie 4-0

LEWISTON — Leading 2-1, the host Twins broke open the first game with six runs in the sixth inning, and went on to sweep the class AA North Idaho League doubleheader at Harris Field.

“Porter pitched great; at one point he struck out five guys in a row,” Prairie coach Pat Calls said. “We let him down tonight; we needed to make a couple plays to get the win and we came up short. The score doesn’t reflect the effort he put in. We made two errors in the sixth inning and (Alex) Light hit a grand slam but we should have been in the dugout hitting before he came up.”

In the second game, the Cardinals (7-9, 1-5 NIL) were done in by an eight-run second inning by the Twins (13-4, 2-0).

“We gave up a huge number in the second inning but beyond that we played OK,” Call said. “We need to play better defense and do a better job of hitting balls clean when we get them.”
