Judy Virginia Johnson, 70

Judy Virginia Johnson, 70, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away in the comfort of her home on June 26, 2017, as a result of complications due to Alzheimer’s. She was lovingly cared for by her husband Jerry and her devoted caretakers.

Judy is the beloved wife of Jerry Johnson; the mother of Sarah, Ian, Greg and J.R. She is also the grandmother of 12, a great-grandmother of two, a teacher and a loved friend.

Judy was born on October 14, 1946 in Denver, Colo., to Thomas and Georgia Bartlett. She grew up in Colorado and graduated valedictorian of her high school class. Judy then went on to graduate from Stanford University. She was a school teacher for many years in the Rathdrum area. She had a great love for tennis, reading, traveling and the great outdoors.

Judy is survived by her husband, Jerry; her two sisters, Joyce Whitmore and Joni Bartlett; her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be held for Judy at 5 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2017, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A funeral Mass will be held at noon Saturday, July 1, 2017, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 812 W. McCartney St., Rathdrum. A reception will follow the service in the church hall.
