Hayden Lake Classic boat show and carousel fundraiser on Sunday

| June 22, 2017 1:00 AM

The fourth annual Hayden Lake Classic Boat Show will take place Sunday, June 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hayden Lake Marina docks. An informal gathering and public display organized by Hayden Lake wood boat owners, the show will feature a variety of Hayden boats from rare antiques to current classics. The event is free and open to the public.

Highlights of the display will include an early post-war Canadian Shepherd, a large Coeur runabout, a 1939 triple-cockpit Hacker Craft, and several other pre-war models. Some boats have been painstakingly restored by their owners, while others have been professionally restored and received top awards at national competitions.

In conjunction with the boat show, the Hayden Lake Yacht Club will be holding its annual charity fundraiser at the Boathouse Restaurant, overlooking the marina. This event, from 1 to 3 p.m., is open to all. This year’s beneficiary is the Coeur d’Alene Carousel. Donors can see a large display that shows sample family or business tiles that will be placed in the “community floor” of the carousel this autumn. Fun activities such as a “pony race” and a beer tasting contest are also planned.

The Boathouse, which will be operating with its normal food and drink service, will feature a Kentucky Derby-themed mint julep drink. Ladies are encouraged to wear their derby hats.
