| June 18, 2017 1:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Levi Haen doubled to score Brett Stapleton with two out in the bottom of the eighth inning, sending the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen past the Twin City Titans 7-6 in the Best of the Northwest tournament fourth-place game at Thorco Field on Saturday.

Bennett Cunningham went 4 for 4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases for Coeur d’Alene (7-9), which finished the tournament 2-3.

“I’m happy we played a complete game today with no errors,” Coeur d’Alene coach Kevin Dunton said. “We swung the bats and ran the bases really well.”

Brady Thompson had four strikeouts in six innings, and Kallen Langley earned the win in his first appearance on the mound in over a year for Coeur d’Alene.

“Brady threw really well,” Dunton said. “Especially at the end of long tournaments, we had some tired arms that needed to rest. Kallen hadn’t pitched in a year and a half, came in and did a good job and went home with the win.”

POST FALLS — Brock Zeller pitched a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts as the Cardinals beat the Spokane Cannons 1-0 at Post Falls High to finish play in the Best of the Northwest tourney with a 2-3 record.

“He threw 18 first pitch strikes and we made plays,” Prairie coach Pat Call said of Zeller. “He was awesome today that’s what we want all our guys on the mound to do every outing.”

Prairie’s other tourney win came 3-2 over the Spokane Expos. The Cardinals lost to the Spokane Crew, Billings and the Wenatchee Packers, all by 7-1 scores.

“We learned a lot about our team,” Call said. “We can build on defense and pitching this summer because we have some guys that will start hitting the ball.”
