Prosch

Shirley Irene Prosch, 72

Shirley Irene Prosch went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 5, 2017, after a nine-month battle with leukemia. Shirley was born on Nov. 9, 1944, to Robert and Florence (Diddy) Townsend of Miles City, Mont. She graduated in 1962 from Coeur d’Alene High School. While living in Hayden, Idaho, she met the love of her life. On Nov. 24, 1962, she married John Prosch and eventually moved into the house that they would start their family in. After 55 years of marriage, they still live at the same residence.

Shirley enjoyed going camping with friends and fishing for blueback in their favorite fishing spot. She also loved to go for drives and go on walks with her husband, John. She liked working in her raised garden and flower beds. If you have ever stopped into the Denny’s restaurant in Coeur d’Alene, you would find Shirley there waiting on her customers. She always greeted you with a smile and treated you as if you were family. If you were lucky enough to sit in her section, your coffee cup never ran dry and your table was cleared of dirty dishes. After 40 years of waitressing at Denny’s, she decided it was time to hang up her apron and retire. There were many of her customers that showed up on her last day of work to give her a big send-off.

Another great joy in her life was spending time with her kids, her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Whenever any of them had an event to attend, she and John were always in the grandstand watching and cheering them on.

She was a devoted wife and mother, a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Through her Godly example, she instilled values that each one of them can use in their lives as they grow up. She will be deeply missed, but because of God’s promise to those who put their faith and trust in Him, they will see her again in heaven.

She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Townsend; mother Florence (Diddy) Bergstrom; stepfather Myron Bergstrom; stepmother Ruth Townsend; her infant half-sister, Kathy Lynne and her half-sister, Susan Sampson. She is survived by her husband, John Prosch; daughter Carol (Robert) Warbrick; grandchildren Levi and Amy Warbrick; son Steve (Kathleen) Prosch; grandchild Jeremy (Sarah) Prosch; great-granddaughters Alicia, and Larissa (Jordan) White; great-grandson Avery; and great-granddaughters, Celia, Emily (Matthew) Gabrielson and Kaylee Prosch. She is also survived by 10 half-brothers and sisters, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service for Shirley will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Grace Bible Church, 152 W. Prairie Ave., Hayden. A reception will follow the service and the family invites you to join them in the celebration of Shirley’s life.
