Northern Lakes splits with Lewis-Clark 'A'

LEWISTON — Jack McDonald scattered six hits, and the lone run he allowed was unearned, as the Northern Lakes Mountaineers beat the Lewis-Clark Cubs 9-1 in the second game to salvage a split of their class A North Idaho League doubleheader Sunday at Harris Field.

Lewis-Clark won the first game 9-3.

Northern Lakes (5-1, 5-1 NIL) totaled 11 hits in the second game. Max Baker drove in three runs. Austin Staudinger two, and Andrew Neilson, Joe Streitzel and Ryan Pote had two hits each.

In the first game, Northern Lakes committed four errors, two in a six-run third inning for Lewis-Clark.

Neilson had two hits, and finished 4 for 6 on the day.

Northern Lakes plays host to the Prairie Cardinals “AA” team tonight at 5 in a nonleague game at Gorton Field in Rathdrum.
