Ralph H. Koep, 96

Ralph H. Koep, 96, longtime resident of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, died June 6, 2017, at Life Care Center, Coeur d’Alene. He was born Feb. 23, 1921, in Englefeld, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Hubert and Katrina (Kintz) Koep.

In 1926, the family moved to Coeur d’Alene where he remained except for his military years with the U.S. Army Air Corp. He retired from Pack River Mill in Coeur d’Alene after many years there. Ralph was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Ralph is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth R. and Dee Dee of Coeur d’Alene, Ronald H. and Louise of Spokane Valley, Wash., and Stanley H. and Jo Lynn Shafer of Liberty Lake, Wash.; daughters and sons-in-law Melianie M. Michels and Joe Fredrick of Coeur d’Alene, and Julia J. Koep and Steve Fitzgerald of Coeur d’Alene; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine in 2006; sisters Mildred Gask and Jeannette McKimmey; and brothers Ray and Thomas.

His memorial Mass will be held at noon Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 919 Indiana Ave., Coeur d’Alene. Reception will follow the service at St. Thomas Parish Center, 406 N. 10th St., Coeur d’Alene.
