Laura Lee Harvey, 51

Laura Lee Harvey, 51, of Post Falls, Idaho, died Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with family and friends beside her, after a brief illness. Laura was born Dec. 18, 1965, in Pasco, Wash., daughter of Ralph and Vivian Harvey of Post Falls.

Laura is survived by her beloved daughter, Rachael Lee Britton of Boise, Idaho; sisters Darla (Harvey) Watson (Dan) of Washington, Pa., and Pamela (Harvey) Baker (Greg), and niece, Morgan Lynne Davison-Harvey of Tucson, Ariz.; and Randy Watson, her lifetime friend. In addition to many aunts, uncles and cousins, many of whom reside in Pennsylvania, a place Laura loved to visit both as a child and adult.

She is preceded in death by her soul mate and best friend, Edward Hempel; grandparents Jonas and Elsie Harvey of Scenery Hill, Pa., and Webster and Caroline Detrick of Richeyville, Pa.

Laura graduated from Post Falls High School, class of 1984. She furthered her education with a degree in early childhood elementary education from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah, class of 2008.

Over the past three years, she worked for the Coeur d’Alene School District and worked for ResCare HomeCare. She was a devoted care giver and worked with many special needs children and older adults. Last summer she enjoyed working for Tesh and was prepared to work there this summer. She was an active member of the Post Falls Volunteers, Toastmasters and Peace Lutheran Church.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Peace Lutheran Church, 8134 N. Meyer Road, Post Falls. Reception immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a “Benefit for Rachael Britton” account at any Community 1st Bank location, Peace Lutheran Church or any charity of your choice.

English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, has been entrusted with arrangements.
