BULLETS: Clean-up a success

| June 7, 2017 1:00 AM

In regard to Ralph Bartholdt’s recent article “BULLET HOLES AND TRASH” where he interviewed Bob Baiser, a longtime native. I would like to agree, the Hayden Creek range is an eyesore of trash which needs to be kept clean.

On Sunday, 15 to 20 volunteers showed up at the main shooting range to clean up the area. The entire site was raked, removing cans, shotgun shells and trash as explained in the article. I could not believe the difference when finished compared to what it looked like when we arrived. Literally truckloads of garbage and debris were hauled away by the volunteers, some of whom had arrived to use the range but when they saw our efforts they jumped right in helping in a big way fully loading their personal trucks with trash.

I want to thank everyone who showed up. The results of your efforts were nothing less than outstanding. WE the Idaho sportsmen and sportswomen need to make it all of our responsibility to keep the area clean. If you take targets to the range, haul it out. Many thanks to those who helped organize the event. Many families participated, men, women and children.

Maybe for future cleanup efforts, the Coeur d’Alene Press might volunteer to publish the event so more people can attend to clean all of the ranges along Hayden Creek. Sunday was a fabulous start.
