Kempton, a junior who recently won the state 5A girls high jump for the third straight year, was named MVP of the Jack Blair Memorial Girls All-Star Basketball Classic last Thursday. She totaled 12 points and 11 rebounds as the Region beat the Metro 84-73 at Post Falls High. “She killed us,” Metro coach David Pratt of Mt. Spokane said of Kempton. “Long arms, and that rebound she got toward the end, when we were only down by five. She just gets that rebound and goes back and finishes, and we thought our girl had her boxed out.”
