Police identify bodies found in apartment

COEUR d’ALENE — Police released the identities of a man and woman found dead Thursday in a Coeur d’Alene apartment.

The individuals located at the Falls Creek apartment complex have been identified as Katlyn A. Dettwiler, 25, and Peter J. Dettwiler, 28, both of Coeur d’Alene.

The incident appears to be the result of domestic violence, according to a news release.

Police responded to the scene in the 2800 block of North Julia Street at 4:50 p.m. Thursday after being notified of an odor coming from the apartment whose occupants had not been seen in more than a week.

Last week, the police department issued a statement that the initial investigation pointed to a murder/suicide.

Coeur d’Alene police detectives are continuing their investigation of this incident to determine exactly what happened.
