Leona Gertrude Neal, 77

Aug. 26, 1939 – May 31, 2017

On May 31, 2017, our beautiful mother passed away after a very brief illness. She left us and joined our dad just in time to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 6, 2017.

Leona Gertrude Beal was born Aug. 26, 1939, to Frank Beal and May (Sweitzer) Barr in Opportunity, Wash.

She was raised in the Post Falls, Idaho, area and attended Post Falls schools for her entire education. She graduated in 1957.

On June 6, 1957, she married Robert “Bob” Neal. Together they had four children: Kandy, Bob, Randy and Karen. They spent 56 wonderful years together before Dad passed away in December 2013.

Mom enjoyed life to its fullest. Above all else, spending time with her family. She was the very best mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma and Great-Great-Grandma, and very much loved sister, aunt and cousin.

She enjoyed doing all sorts of crafts, planting her flowers in the spring, traveling and spoiling grandkids!

She is survived by her children, Kandy (Jim) Tenney of Athol, Bob (Lynn) Neal of Coeur d’Alene, Randy (Jill) Neal of Hayden and Karen (Phil) Wilhelm of Post Falls; grandchildren Tim (Nissa) Herbert, Wade Herbert, Mandi (Jr) Wagenius, BJ Neal, Taylor Neal, Cassandra (Dustin Richcreek) Neal, Monica (Brian) Oliver, Zac Wilhelm, Josh Wilhelm and Kallie (Brian Hagerty) Neal. Step grandsons Chris (Sharon) Tenney, Andy (Sunny) Tenney and Jason (Alisa) Tenney; great-grandchildren Brock (Payton Lathim), Kayde, Noah, Brayden and Westin Herbert, Daphne Smith, Nova Lee and Taylor Herbert, Kandi and Austin Wagenius, Mya Richcreek, Carter and Emmy Douglas, Jaxton Oliver, Fallon, and Xander and Lilliana Wilhelm; step great-grandchildren Jake Tenney, Abby (Zack) Brawley, Riley, Alison, Katie and Emily Tenney and Nevaeh Tenney; and great-great-grandson Grayson Herbert.

She is also survived by brothers Wayne Beal and Joe Barr; and sister Peggy Miller. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents; and a stepbrother and step-sister.

A special thank you to the hospital staff and hospice — you took such good care of mom. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to North Idaho Hospice, 9493 N. Government Way Hayden, ID 83835.

A memorial service is 3 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls.
