Eddie L. Quist, 64

1952 – 2017

Our beloved Eddie passed peacefully into the arms of His Lord and Savior on Friday, May 26, 2017. He was born Oct. 12, 1952, raised in Spokane and later in life moved to North Idaho.

He retired from the Spokane Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service and Rocket Engineering. He was a member of the Spokane Police SWAT team, Spokane Police Mounted Horse Patrol and Bicycle Patrol. What you first noticed about Eddie, was his bright, warm smile which would light up a room. He was very lovable and likable with a quick wit and enjoyed making people laugh.

Eddie was an experienced pilot having flown single and twin engines airplanes as well as helicopters. He was a man of diverse talents; accomplished in building, aviation, martial arts, music and auto restoration. There wasn’t much Eddie couldn’t do and if he didn’t know how, he would figure it out.

For many years he played the piano with his church worship team and felt honored to be a part of that ministry. He had a strong work ethic, loved helping others with projects when he wasn’t working on his own. He so loved his family and was always available to help a friend in need. He didn’t hold back, he lived life full on, enjoying time with family and friends, flying, boating, fishing, RVing, running (walking in the later years with his precious dog, Mugs E. Bear), cooking and riding his Harley.

He is survived by his loving family: wife Lori Payton; mother Edith; sons Joel (Cassie) Quist and Eric (Mona) Quist; grandchildren Emma Quist, Bryson, Braxton and Jayden Kendall; brother Alan (Mary); sister Lynette (Bill) Hamilton and sister-in-law Roni Uyeda (Ross Benson). He is preceded in death by his father, Gust E. Quist. He was deeply loved by his family and friends; our hearts are broken. He leaves a huge void and will be greatly missed. Until we see you again, Eddie…

A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Lake City Community Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Reception to follow at the church. Internment to be a private service at a later date.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, to please make a donation to Hospice of North Idaho or Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial, 924 W. Sinto, Spokane, WA 99201.

Yates Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the care of arrangements. Please visit Eddie’s memorial and sign his online guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
