ENGAGEMENT

Christian-Tausen

Mr. and Mrs. Brent Christian, of Coeur d’Alene, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittany M. Christian to Kristopher J. Tausen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eydfinn Tausen of Mill Creek, Wash.

Brittany graduated with a Ph.D., in psychology from University of Aberdeen, Scotland. She is an assistant professor at Seattle Pacific University. Kristopher is a 2010 graduate of Biola University. He is an operations manager for Sea Products West.

A July wedding is planned for an intimate ceremony in Woodinville, Wash.

EDUCATION

Benjamin Nielson, O.D., of Post Falls, was among 129 students recently awarded the Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn. Benjamin graduated Beta Sigma Kappa, a designation for students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement. He was also selected to receive a $1,000 Glen T. Steele, OD and L. Allen Fors, OD Vision Scholarship Award for demonstrating excellence in pediatrics and vision therapy.

A native of Post Falls, Nielson is the son of Neil Nielson and Tanya Meek, and Susie Holdaway, all of Post Falls, and the grandson of Geri and Neils Nielson of Roosevelt, Utah, and Barbara and Grant Holdaway of Vineyard, Utah. He is a graduate of Post Falls High School and Brigham Young University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in exercise science.

A native of Post Falls, Nielson is the son of Neil Nielson and Susie Holdaway of Post Falls. He is married to Alexi Crane Nielson of Bennington. He is a graduate of Post Falls High School and Brigham Young University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in exercise science.

MILITARY

Mark Schell (Timberlake High School, Class of 2017, ASB President) has received an Appointment to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. Mark received Congressional Nominations from Senator Jim Risch, Senator Mike Crapo and Congressman Raul Labrador for the Air Force Academy.

He was also awarded a four-year Army ROTC Scholarship to his choice of Gonzaga University, Boise State or Arizona State as well as the Gonzaga Trustee Scholarship ($80,000 over four years). Mark has accepted the Appointment to the Air Force Academy.

U.S. Air Force Airman Derek L. Galloway graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Galloway is the son of Travis and Marcie Galloway of Post Falls. He is also the brother of John Galloway.

The airman is a 2016 graduate of Timberlake Senior High School in Spirit Lake.
