Watson, a 6-foot-2 middle blocker from Lake City High, will compete for the Mountain West Conference all-star team on a trip to Europe. The team will travel to Maribor, Slovenia for several days of training sessions and friendly matches against national teams from the region. From July 10-15, the team will compete in the European Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia, featuring junior national and club teams from throughout Europe. Watson, who transferred from Eastern Washington after her freshman year, started all 29 matches for the Bulldogs in her first season at Fresno State, and was one of seven Bulldogs to finish with 100-plus kills, finishing with 120.

Vanessa Shippy

Oklahoma State softball

Shippy, a junior second baseman from Lake City High, was named a third team All-American, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced. Shippy led the Cowgirls with a .398 batting average with 48 runs scored and 46 RBIs, notching the game-winning RBI in the team’s win over Florida in the Gainesville Regional in the NCAA tournament. She was also named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team and Academic All-American for the second straight year.
