Kellogg tops Priest River in foul-filled contest
• BOYS
KELLOGG — Chase Jerome scored 15 points and Toby Colburn chipped in 14 to lead the Kellogg Wildcats past the Priest River Spartans 63-46 in an Intermountain League game on Saturday at Andrews Gymnasium.
Kellogg (12-2, 4-0 IML) led 34-15 at halftime, then the teams combined to shoot 40 free-throws in the second half.
“The first half, we came out and played pretty well to hold them to five points in the first quarter,” Kellogg coach Jeff Nearing said. “We kind of pulled the press and our kids’ energy dipped a little bit. The second half was an ugly half by both teams, and it got pretty sloppy. To Priest River’s credit, they hung around and kept fighting.”
Grant Nearing scored 10 points for Kellogg, which travels to St. Maries on Friday.
Hunter Hartwig scored 17 of his game-high 18 points in the second half for Priest River (6-9, 3-2).

SANDPOINT — A breakout game from T.J. Davis and a big fourth quarter from Patrick Rockwell were big keys in the Bulldogs’ win over the Lumberjacks in nonleague play at Les Rogers Court.
Davis posted a season-high 13 points to go with six boards, Robbie Johnson added 13 points, six rebounds and three steals and Rockwell scored nine of his 12 points during a big fourth-quarter run that helped put the game away for the Bulldogs (3-13).
“We’ve been challenging some of our guys. Tonight was a real breakout game for T.J., that was really big for us,” said Bulldogs head coach Kent Leiss. “Getting more guys to contribute helped us get to our season high.”
Sandpoint was aggressive offensively, making 21 of 30 free throws, and had its most balanced scoring effort of the season, with six players scoring eight points or more.
