MURRAY: Works both ways

| January 27, 2017 12:00 AM

Sen. Patty Murray is adamant and outraged President Donald Trump is guilty of sexual misdeeds and harassment and is holding hearings to air her accusations.

Of course, Sen. Murray did the same with President Clinton, right? President Clinton was impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives, lied to the court concerning his sexual conduct in the oval office with a 22-year-old intern, and for years faced complaints from many women over his actions and attitude.

WAIT…did Sen. Murray show outrage over President Clinton’s acts? Did she convene hearings to charge him? OR, since Clinton is a Democrat, did she excuse his actions over the years both as an individual and as president? Explaining away the acts of President Clinton as Republican manufactured lies.

Excuse me for being old-fashioned, but I think as each state only has two senators, we have the right to expect a U.S. senator to discard bias and show professional consideration and concern on all matters of felony, regardless of party affiliation, particularly if charging a U.S. president with high crimes and misdemeanors.

Sen. Murray is one of many Democrats who insist on a double standard for their “party.” When Democrat hypocrites come forward and acknowledge the felonies of their own party, we will listen to their claims. Of course, pigs may fly someday, too.

In the interim, charges from Sen. Murray must be considered childish ravings from a Democratic senator scratching for any straw that would make the president look bad.

Getting beat brings out the worst in many people, including U.S. senators! Sen. Murray has been, basically, a good, hardworking senator, but she is way off base on this one. If comments and actions on women of many U.S. presidents dictated their success in office, some of our “greats” like JFK and LBJ would never have had a chance to show what they could do.

Press, thank you for a good paper and much thanks to those carriers who are doing such a good job in this weather.
