LEWISTON — Nina Carlson scored 13 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the visiting Lake City Timbwerwolves to a 36-33 Inland Empire League win over the Lewiston Bengals on Monday night.
After building an eight-point halfteime lead, Lake City had to hold off the rallying Bengals, who outscored the T-Wolves 21-16 in the second frame.
Kear Simpson added 11 points and seven rebounds, Lauren Rewers four points and four blocks for the T-Wolves (14-4, 3-2 IEL) in a pivotable game in league standings. Lake City is battling the Bengals (3-2) for the No. 2 seed to the district tournament, and the ability to host against the No. 3 seed.
“When we played Post Falls last week we ran out of gas, and that was on me, not giving enough rest,” Lake City coach Bryan Kelly said. “So I made sure our subs got in the game tonight.”
Kendyll Kinser led Lewiston with 13 points.
Kelly said Payton Barber and Capriel Halliday played great minutes off the bench, and he also said Carlson did a good job off attacking the basket.
“I saw lots of good things tonight — we responded well after the Post Falls game.”
