SCHOOLS: Belts a bust

| January 15, 2017 12:00 AM

I will tell you this. When you come down Bonell Road and make a left on Yellowstone, if you make the turn from the wrong side of the road and you cannot see either way, you’ll understand why we called it blind man’s bluff. When I made that turn there was a log truck that I had to make room for. I got one tire in the mud and that was all it took; I could not get it back on the road. With that being said, the county has not spent one dime on that road since. If those kids had been wearing seat belts, they would be dead.

That’s a fact. All seat belts will do is present a problem. The kids will knock each other’s teeth out goofing around. The belts will just be a weapon. All they need is to be seated properly and the bus will do the rest.

I have never spoken about this but the money would be spent better elsewhere, like the classroom or teacher pay.
