Viks, T-Wolves in semis
MISSOULA, Mont. — Coeur d’Alene’s Casey Randles (182) and Alex Marshall (285) advanced to the semifinals of today’s annual Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic, helping the Vikings to a 14th-place showing after the first day at Sentinel High on Friday.
“We came out and wrestled really well,” said Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat, whose team was hit by the flu bug and is without four starters this weekend. “Everyone scored some points and won matches. They wrestled hard, but ran into some tough kids.”
Marshall bumped up to heavyweight for this weekend as Montana does not have his weight class (220).
“He just went out and wrestled the way he normally does,” Moffat said. “He can’t shoot as much, but he wrestled really well.”
Isaiah Skinner remains alive in the consolation rounds for Coeur d’Alene at 170.
Griffin Schoch (160), Andrew Olvera (182) and Zane Lettau (285), advanced to the semifinals for Lake City, which is tied for 18th.
“All three of them wrestled really well and beat some seeded guys to advance,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “Griffin and Andrew, as seniors, are really starting to put it together and wrestle well. Zane, as a sophomore, it’s awesome to see him wrestle at the level he is now.”
Rusty Dan (205) remains in the hunt in the consolation bracket for Lake City.
Flathead High of Kalispell leads the tournament with 119.5 points, followed by Mead with 97.
Post Falls, Lakeland unbeaten

POST FALLS — Tournament host Post Falls and Lakeland swept in opening duals in their respective pods on the first day of the 20th annual River City Duals tournament at The Arena.
Post Falls beat Ephrata 63-24 and Medical Lake 80-6 and Lakeland beat Florence (Mont.) 68-15 and Shadle Park 64-11 to advance to the gold bracket starting today. Timberlake went 0-2 to move into the bronze bracket.
