LIBERALS: When snowflakes melt

| February 23, 2017 12:00 AM

I had to laugh as I read Shawn Keenan’s rather angry letter in defense of her “liberalism.” I think her letter is rather revealing. Shawn rants in all caps about how she believes in human rights, how she’s “tough and tender,” and loves to serve others. She’s proud of her “unconditional love” presumably for her fellow man. And she speaks to nothing being more “courageous than compassion,” and describes her belief in “equity, empathy, goodness and love” and rejects the term “liberal snowflake.”

Shawn, your description of yourself doesn’t make you a “liberal snowflake. Brace yourself: It makes you a conservative — just like me!

That’s the problem with liberals, they think they have the corner on every positive attribute of man. Everything Shawn lists are traits valued by every conservative on the planet. It’s just that we approach those things a little differently, using logic and common sense rather than mindless, senseless emotion. An example is found elsewhere on the same “letters” page where a man is proud of his son for wanting his first car to be an “electric” car. Does he ever consider the mess that building the batteries for those cars causes to the environment, and does he ask himself where the electricity to CHARGE the battery comes from? NO. It’s emotion over logic, “green at all costs” because it’s been peddled so effectively by the dishonest left whose goal is to cripple America.

We all want the same things Shawn… safe country, clean environment, less crime and a better life for future generations. The difference is, logic and common sense will get us there; emotion and liberalism will continue the spiral into the abyss. President Trump is our last chance. The “snowflakes” have had it all their way for more than half a century now. It’s time to recover the dream of the Founders, not allow the enemies of America to pour in here and prepare to destroy us. That’s not being a compassionate “snowflake” — that’s just insane. “The Constitution is not a suicide pact.”
