SCHOOLS: Dad says no

| February 19, 2017 12:00 AM

I am a single father of two daughters at Borah Elementary. An acquaintance of mine told me she was going to speak to the school board meeting about the horrific parking conditions at Borah. I was unable to go to the meeting, but want to support her in her message.

Why is the school district trying to pass a bond for more athletic facilities at the high school when my daughters’ school doesn’t even have adequate parking? There are nine, NINE, spots at the school. It is a nightmare. There are wrecks all the time. Improvements to the parking lot are not included in either Phase I or Phase II of the bond. I know. I looked.

I was recently parked waiting for my daughters when someone backed into me. I don’t have the money for the repairs. And yet you are telling me that I need to pay more taxes so some privileged kid at the high school can bounce a ball on a new floor? No thank you.

Until this school district puts more value on education and safety, I will vote NO on anything they ask for.

I beg the public to think of all the kids in the district. Not just the athletes. VOTE NO!
