DRIVERS: Reckless beyond belief

Monday and Tuesday we had to make a couple of emergency visits to our veterinarian’s office in Rathdrum from Hauser using Highway 53. Currently, the speed limit for semi-trucks is 30 mph due to road breakup issues. We were astounded by the impatience and reckless endangerment other drivers imposed on the rest of us. In only two trips, we saw two near misses of head-on collisions from eastbound drivers heading west, trying to pass not only the semis but also a long line of cars.

I am no idiot and know that Highway 53 is a very dangerous and over-used stretch of road and that solutions need to be addressed here. However, how about some serious consequences for those who put the rest of us at risk with their unbelievable lack of common sense? Honestly, if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t have believed it.
