AIRPORT: Explain the firing
As the Green grass blows, we begin to know there is a lot more to this story than we are being told. I’m not a poet, but I do know it when there is a snake in the grass.
As a Montana native moving here close to 30 years ago, I was taught that honesty and integrity are important. And if there is a snake in the grass you need to get a stick and round up your friends and chase it out in the open for all to see! Otherwise it will continue to sneak around and bite someone.
I have owned property at the Coeur d’Alene Airport for 17 years and been a pilot for 40 years. Been to lots of airports around the Northwest in that time. I will say that this airport is the best that I’ve seen! In the last 20 years, it has grown and seen huge improvements under Greg Delavan. The airport and staff has been well managed and are great to work with. I am proud to be here.
I personally know several of the Airport Advisory Board members and have nothing but respect for them and their values and opinions. They are BLOWN AWAY that Mr. Delavan is being run off! We all wonder why?
Some have said there is no new development or investment at the Airport…? There are at least five new projects completed over the last year including a $1.2 million hanger project that I was involved in. And several others in the works. And again, I will say, the airport management and staff were awesome to work with.
Bottom line, I am BLOWN AWAY at what I see happening. An airport manager being run off after doing an excellent job as the airport manager, not to mention being within a few years of retirement after taking care of this airport as his pride and joy.
It appears to me to be an unjustified termination because of a past commissioner executing his hit and run/vendetta on his way out for some unknown personal reasons of his own.
I think it’s time for all of us in this community to know his reasons. Is he part of a development/developments close to the airport? Is it in his best personal interest to have an airport manager who does not care about the airport? Well, I have a problem with that!
As Paul Harvey used to say, “And now for the rest of the story.” We need to hear it!
