Sandpoint 43

SANDPOINT — The Trojans wasted little time showing why they’re the No. 3 team in the state in 5A, running out to a 27-10 first quarter lead and cruising to a win over the 4A Bulldogs in nonleague play at Les Rogers Court.

Tanner McCliment-Call put up 20 points and Cameron McKeown drained four 3-pointers as part of his 16 points, and the Trojans (13-2) ramped up the full-court pressure and simply had too much octane for the short bench of the Bulldogs, who only had eight players suit up.

Robbie Johnson scored 16 of his team-high 19 points in the second half for the Bulldogs (3-14).

Post Falls plays host to Coeur d’Alene on Saturday in 5A Inland Empire League play.

Sandpoint will now turn its attention to a 4A IEL game in Moscow on Saturday.

KELLOGG — Abby Arthur scored 14 of her game-high 19 points in the second half, rallying the Wildcats past the Panthers in the Intermountain League finale for both schools at Andrews Gymnasium.

“We made a few adjustments at halftime that worked out really well,” said Kellogg coach Eli Bourgard, whose team won a coin flip to earn the No. 2 seed to the 3A District 1 tournament starting next week — provided Bonners Ferry loses at Timberlake tonight. “We couldn’t buy a bucket in the first half. Finally the lid came off and the shots started to fall.”

The Badgers would earn the second seed with a win at Timberlake.
