Harris, Sorn spark Card women
OREGON CITY, Ore. — Rocky Mountain College transfer Ronnie Harris had 25 points and five steals for North Idaho College in a 93-67 win over the Whatcom Orcas in the opening round of the Clackamas tournament on Friday.
Gia Sorn had 22 points, eight rebounds and seven blocked shots for NIC (5-2), which faces tournament host Clackamas today at 4 p.m.
“We got some really good guard play out of Ronnie and Zia (Zosha Krupa, who finished with 16 points and four steals),” NIC coach Chris Carlson said. “Both of them shot the ball really well and got us going offensively. Gia, her second half was really good and to have seven blocks in 20 minutes was great.”
NIC forced 31 turnovers in the game, scoring 25 points off turnovers.
“We really put some pressure on them and got it going in the first and third quarter,” Carlson said. “We wanted to come out strong and really blew the game open. We’ve been trying to get a full four quarters, and I think we accomplished that tonight.”
Alecia Marin scored 20 points for Whatcom (5-4).
