TRUMP: Now picture this

| December 10, 2017 12:00 AM

Imagine if President Obama had accepted help from Iran during his election. High ranking officials in Iran intervened in some way during the election in order to sway it in Obama’s favor. And Obama knew and accepted the help. Then after in office, Obama intervened with the Justice Department and shut down an investigation into the matter. Let’s imagine…

Now here we are in December 2017. After months and months of claiming no one in the Trump campaign had any contacts with Russians, after the president’s claims that the entire “Russian matter” is a hoax, and after multiple aides have been found to have lied repeatedly about Russian contacts, here we are.

Monday, attorneys for President Trump changed their message. Now, they make claims there is no illegality to having knowingly worked with Russians to sway the election AND the president is above the law. He cannot be charged with obstruction of justice.

This looks like the first step in preparation of some type of defense when all these facts are found to be true.

I am horrified to think where we are as a country if these things stand.

Today is the day Idaho’s Republican leaders need to make strong statements denouncing this behavior. Word it “If true…” if you must, but state strongly that we will not stand for foreign intervention in elections and presidents are not above the law.
