CAROUSEL: Criticism a bit late
Judy Norton recently wrote a letter to the editor asking some interesting questions regarding the Coeur d’Alene Carousel.
Judy, you make some good points. It’s too bad that you waited until the work was almost finished to offer your suggestions and your criticism.
Instead of resorting to a public forum, you could have made a couple of phone calls to get those answers.
The music that you want to hear has been kept quiet out of respect for the residential neighbors who spoke up at City Council meetings. If you attended those meetings you could have spoken up then.
Your idea of walls that slide open would be wonderful! If you took the time to find out how much they would cost you would know that they are very expensive!
Speaking of expense, you could have helped out with the fundraising efforts. Did you volunteer hundreds of hours of your own time like some others did? Did you donate your own money? (There is still time. Not all of the money has been raised.)
This project is being supported with generous donations of time and money from many people. The only public contribution is a favorable lease on the ground by the city of Coeur d’Alene.
Finally, did you take the time to thank the people who made this happen?
There were many including the Foote family, Bud Ford, the Coeur d’Alene Carousel Board and many other volunteers.
Thank You to all of those folks!
