WAIT: And take a breath
Everyone is in such a hurry anymore. Yellow means speed up. Red means you got away with something. Mr. Silva saying he honks at drivers who pause at red lights is rude and dangerous.
I am one of those drivers who pauses when the light turns green — 1, 2, 3 — to give the red-light-runners a chance to get through the intersection. There have been too many close calls to do otherwise. I also stay at least one car length behind the car in front at a red light for two reasons: give the guy next to me that wants that spot a chance to get in, and to give me a way out just in case.
Ask a State Trooper, and they will tell you that speeding/hurrying is the cause of most traffic collisions. Leave early and don’t speed and you will get where you are going safely.
There was a collision the other day on I-90 involving two semis and a half dozen autos. If the cars had kept the proper distance behind the trucks, and each other, they would have been able to stop in time. They were probably speeding as well.
Slow down and arrive safely. You don’t have to be anywhere right now. It is also good for your blood pressure.
