GIVE: Make region stronger

| April 30, 2017 1:00 AM

Stronger nonprofits make stronger communities. Transforming lives often takes the specialized services of several different nonprofits working together. We are extremely fortunate to live in a community where nonprofit collaboration makes a difference.

Every month for the past three years, more than 50 local nonprofits have gathered together to network, collaborate and share resources with one another. We’re called the Kootenai Nonprofit Group. On Thursday, May 4, these nonprofits are challenging our community to collaborate and support local causes on Idaho’s largest single day of giving — Idaho Gives.

Idaho Gives is the only single day of online giving across the state where ANY nonprofit that has signed up to participate can receive donations. And the goal this year is big — really big. The Idaho Nonprofit Center has set out to raise $1.2 million for Idaho causes! That’s $1 for every adult Idahoan in our state.

Idaho has more than 7,000 registered nonprofits that bring more than $5 billion in revenue to our state. And they employ more than 50,000 Idaho jobs.

Think about Art Walks downtown, or homeless seniors who go unnoticed, or the Spring Dash you may have participated in — these are all nonprofit organizations that bring immeasurable value to our community and we must work together to support these organizations and the work they do.

Visit IdahoGives.org and browse the list of participating causes, then give. Let’s show a strong and collaborative North Idaho!
