ART: Spare public expense

| April 30, 2017 1:00 AM

Please put a fork in Wednesday’s article about spending money on the art program. Admittedly, I am not a fan of the art committee. Those beautiful white railroad crossing guard arms that light up at night in the downtown park or how about the crab at Johnson Mill River Park (ever see any crabs in the river?).

How about before we spend any more money, we update the beautiful McEuen Park with benches? Benches you say, what a novel idea. Do you mean benches where one can sit down and enjoy the beautiful park? Imagine actually getting to enjoy your tax dollars.

The white railroad crossing piece of art, the money they spent on that monstrosity could have paid for benches in the whole park and still have money left over!

Great walking paths around the park, but what happens when you get tired or just want to view the goings on in the park? No problem; just sit on the grass. Really, when you get a little older try sitting down on the grass, then call the fire department to help you get back up.

Well, Mayor and all you wonderful people on these committees, can we sit down on a comfortable bench and talk about it? Maybe we could meet at the park!
