CITYLINK: Utopian my foot
My dear friend Ralph K. Ginorio from the East Coast,
I find it disingenuous to call a plan to pave a dirt lot and add a small office building with some bus shelters “utopian rhetoric.” And comparing two or three local buses to Portland and Boston’s high speed rail system really misses the mark, as does the assumption that public buses magically cause homelessness.
The job choices in this area are limited enough for those who are low income and without a public bus system they become even more limited. I am surprised that a conservative teacher would not understand basic economics.
Go back to Brent Regan and the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee for new talking points. Not only do these not make sense, but they show a real disdain for the plight of those who are struggling to make ends meet in this difficult economy.
