Golf instruction at the Red House

| April 2, 2017 2:00 AM

The new Red House (its name) under construction at Hayden Lake Country Club will be the home of Golf Channel Academy.

The current outlet in The Resort Plaza Shops closed this past week. It was there about eight years, and the rumor is that a wine shop is coming into that space in the back area.

Golf Channel Academy is a network of world-class coaches and teaching facilities dedicated to improving clients’ games. It’s the hands-on coaching network offering one-on-one and group coaching.

The academy will offer lessons, clinics, beginner and junior instruction, club fitting and simulator play on the world’s greatest golf courses.

With 80 locations in 28 states, the academy has 250 coaches. Local key people are Randy Henry, Matt Bunn and Randall Henry. Check www.golfchannelacademy.com and www.randyhenrygolf.com.

Now for the Tidbits

• Many people have whined that my Tidbits every week about new businesses in North Idaho have been too redundant for too long. So I won’t run those that I’ve run for many weeks — even months. So those businesses will need to contact me just before they really open if they want it to be news.

- Some new ones I’ve recently discovered are U Mobile at 3134 E. Mullan Ave. in Post Falls, Potlatch 1 Federal Credit Union (P1FCU) at 3095 E. Mullan Ave., the former Kelly’s Pub on Fourth Street to be a bakery and Relic Smokehouse & Pub coming to 1901 E. Sherman Ave. Evidently a new business is coming into where Johannes Jewelry just left in the Dingle building.

- On a recent Seattle trip I discovered one can ride the Rail Link (train) all the way from SeaTac Airport to the University of Washington for $3. Seniors get it for $2. It has heaters near the seats and special seats for the handicapped. And it has many stops between, including at the stadiums, Chinatown, downtown and more.

- The I-90 litter has been picked up in the Post Falls. Now the Cd’A area needs help.

- Sign on a plumber’s truck: “Don’t sleep with a drip; call your plumber.”

- A real headline: “Astronaut takes blame for gas in aircraft.”

- A positive nonverbal clue for when shaking hands: Have a firm grip, not too tight or wimpy, make eye contact and have it be for one second. You don’t want it to be distracting. If the “meeting” goes well and you shake hands when leaving, put your left hand on the shaking person’s right forearm. It’s like making a meaningful, slight, electrical connection and you can see them light up. Really.
