Trojans top Reynolds, fall late to Borah

BOISE — Wyatt Setian drove in five runs for Post Falls in a 12-1 win over Reynolds High of Troutdale, Ore., in its opening game of the Buck’s Bags tournament Friday at Borah High’s Wigle Field.

Isiah Gosney went 4 for 4 with four runs scored and three RBIs and Jake Pfennigs struck out six and allowed two hits against Reynolds.

“Both Wyatt and Isiah swung the bats really well, and we played great defense behind Jake,” said Post Falls coach Mick Zeller, whose team played errorless ball in the opener. “We played good defense, which was good to see, and ran the bases really well.”

Later, Tanner McCliment-Call drove in two runs for the Trojans in a 9-8 loss to Borah, which scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to get the win.

“They just put the ball in play,” Zeller said. “We did what we needed to do and threw strikes. We had the opportunities to close it out, but just didn’t get the job done.”

Setian had two hits and scored three runs against Borah.

Post Falls will face South Salem of Salem, Ore., today at Bishop Kelly in Boise to conclude tourney play.
