ST. MARIES — Timberlake senior goalkeeper Keelie Lawler had three saves for the Tigers in a 5-0 win against the St. Maries Lumberjacks in Intermountain League play on Tuesday at City Park.

Allison Kirby, Shelby Starr, Caylee Springer and Ashley Neuberger scored unassisted goals in the second half after Georgina Simpson scored in the first half for Timberlake (9-1-1, 8-0-1 IML), which clinched at least a tie for the league title. They can win the title outright next Tuesday against visiting Kellogg.

“In the second half, they were pretty aggressive,” St. Maries coach Brad Groce said. “We played solid defense in the first half and they came out and got some goals in the second half. We’re improving still and it was a good, solid match. Timberlake’s a great team.”

COEUR d’ALENE — Senior Austin Garitone — who finished with two assists — and senior Justin Kofmehl helped the Vikings beat the Bears on senior day at Coeur d’Alene High.

“Austin created so many opportunities for us today,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Lake said. “We’ve only got two seniors this year, and Justin is the guy that works in the middle of the field. Both of them are captains, and I couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve shown and how they’ve lead us thus far. Justin is going both ways, getting everyone set on defense and then leading the attack. Austin was just spectacular. He worked hard and created so much today.”

Drake Prohaska scored in the 21st minute and Gabe Nazemi had two second-half goals for Coeur d’Alene (6-0-4), which travels to Post Falls on Thursday in a 5A Inland Empire League match.

ST. MARIES — Kobe Harris and Cody Bentley scored first-half goals to send the Tigers past the Lumberjacks in an Intermountain League match at City Park.

“Our final shot wasn’t what it needed to be,” said St. Maries coach Chris Renaldo, whose team took 17 shots on goal. “Our ball movement was good, our passes were good, but the shots were right at the keeper. We had plenty of shots, but just could not finish to save our lives. We made some great plays and played within the goal, but there was just a lot of defense.”

Timberlake (9-2-2, 5-1-1 IML) travels to the Sandpoint JV on Friday.

St. Maries (4-5-3, 3-2-2) travels to Bonners Ferry on Thursday.
