Patricia A. McMahan, 87

| September 28, 2016 9:00 PM

Oct. 8, 1927 — Nov. 26, 2015

Surrounded by “her people” as she enduringly called them, Patricia McMahan joined her beloved in heaven. She battled bravely and patiently with lung cancer and took her last breath on Nov. 26, 2015.

Patricia was born on Oct. 8, 1927, in St. Louis, Mo. Patricia welcomed four children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and taught them through life. All remember her as a strong mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals and have courage and faith in themselves.

Where does one jump in and build a foundation of sentences and paragraphs strong enough to exemplify someone so well loved?

Patricia was an accomplished business woman and homeowner. She was a witty and generous individual who was passionate and dedicated to the care of her family and close friends. She was the person who was up before the crack of dawn stoking the fire and putting bacon in the frying pan. She was constant, loving, happy and hilarious. She was comfort in human form for all who were in her company.

She was an amazing woman. She is survived by her son, Tom McMahan; grandchildren Alethia Michaels, Kelly and Jamie Lattin, Patricia Hansen and Tara McMahan; as well as numerous great-grandchildren; and a stepdaughter, Susie Perry.

She was our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and mentor. She was the person who was there to offer a cup of coffee when coming in from the cold, or after a long drive. Her passing has left a great emptiness and she will be forever missed.
