Grove qualifies for 2017

PGA Professional Championship

WARRENTON, Ore. — Russell Grove, an assistant at Twin Lakes Village, qualified for next year’s PGA Professional Championship by virtue of his tie for fourth at the Pacific Northwest PGA Professional Championship, which concluded Thursday at Astoria Golf and Country Club.

Grove, also the men’s and women’s golf coach at North Idaho College, shot a 7-under-par 209 (71-67-71), five strokes behind the winner.

Corey Prugh of Manito in Spokane won the tournament, beating defending champion Tim Feenstra of Seattle with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff.

The PGA Professional Championship is scheduled for June 18-21, 2017 at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. The low 20 scores at next year’s PGA Professional Championship will earn a place in the PGA Championship, Aug. 10-13, 2017, at Quail Hollow Club, Charlotte, N.C.
