PREP SOCCER: Trojan boys top Hawks

• BOYS

POST FALLS — After a halftime wakeup call by Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson, the Trojan boys responded in the second half, beating the Lakeland Hawks 3-1 in a nonleague match at Post Falls High on Thursday.

“I kind of set them on fire at the half,” Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson said. “I thought we were playing a little flat. Whether it was hot out or we were playing a 4A team and the guys didn’t feel like there’s as much on the line, I had to light a fire under them to get them out of their slumber. Gradually, they woke up and finally decided to play soccer.”

Damon Gilmor had two goals and Diego Esquivel had a goal and two assists for Post Falls (4-1-3), which hosts Saint George’s on Tuesday.

Seth Galbraith scored in the 11th minute for Lakeland (1-7-1), which hosts Coeur d’Alene next Thursday.
