ST. MARIES — Stephen Davenport scored two of his three goals in the first five minutes, sparking the St. Maries Lumberjacks past the Priest River Spartans 5-0 in an Intermountain League match at City Park on Wednesday.
“That quick start gave quite a bit of confidence,” St. Maries coach Chris Renaldo said. “I think they rebounded well from that Orofino game (a 3-3 draw on Sept. 1). Our ball movement was much better and our combination plays were great. It was one of the best games they’ve played as a team. Our scoring was spread out and they spread the offense around really well.”
Diego Papetti had a goal and three assists for St. Maries (2-2-2, 2-0-2 IML), which hosts the Lakeland junior varsity on Saturday.
