COLUMN: The liberal ghosts

| September 7, 2016 9:00 PM

In the column “Aryan ghost haunts us still,” Steve Cameron laments over how we “somehow just can’t seem to shake” our region’s negative reputation for racial hate. Really Steve? The only evidence I see is in the constant narrative from propagandists masquerading as journalists such as you.

It is YOU and the liberal, race-baiting organizations such as the Kootenai County Task Force on Human Relations and the SPLC who constantly summon the ghost of Butler and his small, defunct group. You won’t let it rest because it suits the anti-individual, collectivist agenda you, the KCTFHR and the SPLC are promoting. You may think it’s clever to hide this underhanded narrative under the veil of a “news” story bemoaning our public image, but we see it for what it is. It’s another opportunity to summon the ghost of Butler to connect it to these so-called “Redoubters.” You made the connection and then halfheartedly dismiss it to legitimize your hit piece. You’re not fooling anyone.

I know several conservative “Redoubters” who moved here to escape liberalism in their home states. Many attend my church. They are peaceful, polite, helpful and kind. But they do hate. They don’t hate minorities. Far from it. They hate the liberal policies which created the mess in their former states. They especially hate the people and organizations who promote anti-individual, collectivist agendas. So if you want to connect dots, the Redoubters as a threat to liberal progressivism in North Idaho, not minorities, is the true connection.
