Turnovers doom Post Falls
CHENEY — A week after opening its season with a win at Sandpoint, the Post Falls Trojans committed seven turnovers in a 41-3 defeat against the Mead Panthers at Roos Field on the Eastern Washington University campus on Friday.
Post Falls (1-1) scored on its first possession, on a 34-yard field goal by Braden Vaughan, but trailed 28-3 at halftime in the opener for Mead.
“I thought our performance was very disappointing compared to how we played the first week,” Post Falls interim coach Blaine Bennett said. “Often times most teams make significant improvement between game one and game two. Not to take anything away from Mead, but we had a number of turnovers. We didn’t play a very clean game at all.”
Lightning stopped the game twice, and after the second strike midway through the fourth quarter, the game was called.
