“We just executed our gameplan tonight,” first-year Lake City coach Jenna Leggat said. “It was a collective team effort and we got execution from everyone tonight. “It was our first regular season game, and we came out a little slow,” St. Maries coach Rachele Asbury said. “It took a while to wake up and pull it all together, but were able to find our groove in the last three games. Missed serves were a little bit of a struggle, but something to work on for our next match.”

Madison Napierala had 14 assists and one ace, Paxton Dotson 14 assists and three kills and Brook Larson six kills for Kootenai, which hosts Coeur d’Alene Charter on Tuesday.
“We had a rough night serving,” Kootenai coach Mary Gentry said. “But once we were able to calm our nerves, the girls did a great job of strengthening their mentalities and coming together as a team.”
Kellogg (1-3) travels to Wallace on Wednesday.
Cd’A Charter d.
Lakeside
COEUR d’ALENE — Lillian Rhea had nine kills and five blocks for the Knights in a 25-17, 14-25, 17-25, 25-22, 15-6 loss to the Panthers at Holy Family Catholic School.
“It was a match between two evenly matched teams,” Lakeside coach Brad Veile said. “We moved and talked well, but we didn’t cover as well as we could and need to. There were some balls that dropped in that fifth set that can’t do anything about. Overall, I thought the girls played really well.”
“It wasn’t a very pretty win,” Panthers coach Taylor Wilkinson said. “I’m proud the girls never gave up. They came together as a team and battled until the end. Senior setter Jackie Callihan and mid Nicole Young were dominant running the quick middle hits.
Alyssa SiJohn had seven assists, Te’a Lambert three aces and Sarah Daman led Lakeside in digs. The Knights host North Idaho Christian on Tuesday.
Coeur d’Alene Charter (2-0) plays Sept. 8 at Lakeside.

PRIEST RIVER — Sheldon Kistler saved 10 shots and Cody Bentley scored a pair of goals as the Tigers beat the Spartans in an Intermountain League match.
“Overall, the match was evenly played between the two teams,” Priest River coach Rob Lawler said. “The score was not indicative of how close of a match really played out tonight.”
Jonathan Wiess had a goal and an assist for Timberlake (5-0-1, 2-0-1 IML), which plays at St. George’s next Thursday.
“I was happy to come away with a win,” Timberlake coach Bert Bentley said. “We took a few steps back, but that might have been with the scheduling and it caught up with us. Able to do some other things tonight.”
Priest River (1-2-1, 1-1-1) plays at St. Maries on Wednesday.

ST. MARIES — Stephen Davenport scored two goals, Tyler Martin had a goal and assist, and the Lumberjacks allowed two second-half goals in an Intermountain League draw with the Maniacs at City Park.
St. Maries had a 3-1 lead in the 41st minute, but nine minutes later, the Maniacs’ Dartagnan Romero scored on a long kick, then Dashiell Tyler scored on another unassisted play from long range.
“They played very well,” Lumberjacks coach Chris Renaldo said of his team. “We had good possessions, our ball movement was good. Stephen and Tyler played very well.”
Orofino was outshot by St. Maries, 17-4.
“They only got near the goal four times,” Renaldo said of Orofino. “They had long-ball breakaways. Our defense played a whale of a game. They had two chances where they got the ball over the midfield.”

POST FALLS — Havana Johnson scored two second half goals at the Timberwolves outlasted the Trojans in the 5A Inland Empire League for both schools.
“It was a good league win,” Lake City coach Matt Ruchti said. “It’s difficult to play that style where the defense packs it in, and it made things difficult for us. They tried to bunker in and play a lot of players behind the goal, and it was effective. Their goalkeeper (Maddie Grangaard) was great today. If you’re going to sit back and defend, you’ve got to have a great keeper, and they do.”
Rickie Colosimo scored in the 76th minute for Post Falls (1-2-1), which hosts Moses Lake on Saturday.
“The girls played with a lot of heart,” first-year Post Falls coach Steve Mills said. “They just out-possessed us and outshot us. They’re a really good club, but our girls hung in with them pretty respectably.”
Lake City (4-0) travels to Central Valley on Tuesday.
First half — 1, LC, Annica Wilson (Katie Knaack), 22:00. Second half — 2, LC, Havana Johnson (Lily Scott), 48:00. 3, LC, Johnson (Caitlin Barber), 53:00. 4, PF, Rickie Colosimo (unassisted), 76:00.

PRIEST RIVER — The Tigers had five different players score in an Intermountain League win against the Spartans.
“We played a good game and were able to get two goals,” first-year Priest River coach Shannon Fraser said. “But Timberlake was the team that came out ready to play and consistently connected their passes.”
Timberlake (4-1, 4-0 IML) will face Coeur d’Alene Charter on Tuesday at Community United Methodist Church Field in Coeur d’Alene.

St. Maries 0
ST. MARIES — Elizabeth Lehosit had a goal and an assist in the second half as the Panthers beat the Lumberjacks in an Intermountain League match at City Park.
“I was happy that we started strong, looking to possess and control the flow of the game,” first-year Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Stacy Smith said. “Our biggest issue seemed to be the fast turf, which really exposed our sloppy first touch on the ball. We were able to get some good ball movement and finally put away a few additional goals in the second half. I was pleased with the fact that we were able to finish in different scenerios and with different players each time.”
Lumberjacks coach Brad Groce saw progress in his defense, despite the loss.
“For us, I think we played well,” Groce said. “Last year they put 16 goals on us in two games. Our defense played better. I think we did pretty well. We have a pretty good defensive performance. I wish we had more scoring opportunities, but it’ll come, time will tell.”
Coeur d’Alene Charter (4-1, 3-1 IML) will face Timberlake on Tuesday at Community United Methodist Church Field in Coeur d’Alene.
St. Maries (1-4, 1-3) hosts Priest River on Wednesday.
