DRIVERS: Deer vs. jackasses
On my way into Coeur d’Alene one recent morning I saw another dead deer on the edge of West Riverview Drive, aka “the shortcut” and “let’s see how fast we can go on this narrow winding road.” As I passed her, I wondered how many does this makes this year — more than the last few years by far. Maybe if the insurance companies would treat hitting a deer as an act of God instead of an accident and deny coverage, more people would slow down and be more aware of their surroundings — just a thought.
Also why are there no deer crossing signs anywhere on this side of the river? When put up, soon I hope, please include pictures. Most people on this road apparently cannot read a speed limit sign. I know most are thinking, “It’s just a deer and there’s plenty of them, we can afford to lose some.” My thoughts exactly, except instead of the deer, how ‘bout the jackass speeders who don’t care? There’s more than enough of them.
